Dedicated Deck Builder in Clinton, New Jersey

Creating Outdoor Spaces That Clinton Families Love

You’ve been thinking about that backyard upgrade, but are not quite sure how to approach such a project. At My Deck, we design and build decks, patios, porches, pergolas, screen rooms, and outdoor living spaces for homeowners in Clinton. Bring us the idea. We’ll sit down in our showroom and work with you to get it designed and get it built.

Why Clinton Homeowners Choose My Deck

My Deck has been building outdoor projects since 1986. We handle the work from design through construction, including permits, so the project does not get passed from one company to another.

A deck is more than decking boards and railing. The footings, framing, drainage, stairs, and connections to the house need to be handled correctly before the finish work begins. That is where a lot of bad deck work starts to show its age.

Planning a Deck Project in Clinton

The Town of Clinton requires a construction permit, building subcode permit, and residential zoning application for decks and enclosed porches. The Town also directs applicants to obtain zoning and floodplain approval when required before construction documents are submitted.

That planning happens before the build starts. The deck location, its size, the stairs, and the distance from property lines need to be addressed on the plan. A survey or plot plan may be part of the application. My Deck handles the permit process as part of the project.

What We Build in Clinton: Decks, Patios, and More

We build complete outdoor environments designed around your lifestyle. Every space is tailored for form and function, from decks and patios to outdoor kitchens and covered structures.

Custom Deck Construction in Clinton

We build new decks for homeowners starting with an open backyard, along with replacement decks for homes with an older structure that is no longer worth keeping.

Our deck work includes single-level decks, multi-level decks, pool and spa decks, rooftop decks, deck inlays, built-in seating, stairs, lighting, and railing systems. We install composite, metal, and cable railings.

Start with size and layout. The house usually has something to say about both. Doors, windows, corners, grade changes, and where the yard opens up can rule out a lot of bad ideas pretty quickly. Sometimes a wider deck works. Sometimes going deeper just puts more deck where nobody needs it. We work with you to figure that out.

On an elevated deck, an under-deck dry-space system keeps the ground below it dry. That’s where the mower and the yard tools can go. You can also finish it out and use it as a covered patio.

Composite Decking, PVC Deck Boards

Composite is what we recommend for most homeowners.

It costs more up front than a standard wood deck. You won’t be sanding, staining, and sealing it every two years. It doesn’t rot, and it holds up to normal use. Most homeowners would rather pay more at the build than give up a weekend every couple of years keeping a wood deck alive.

We work with Trex, TimberTech, MoistureShield, and Deckorators. Ipe is available if you want real hardwood and you’re ready to maintain it.

PVC is an option. It isn’t automatically the better low-maintenance board. PVC scratches more easily than composite does. If the deck’s going to see chairs sliding, dog nails, and kids running across it, composite usually holds up better.

Pergolas, Porches, Screen Rooms & Sunrooms

One thing homeowners don’t always think about is what the structure will do to the rooms inside the house. Put a solid roof outside a kitchen or family room, and you may lose more daylight than you expected. A pergola keeps things more open. If you’re enclosing the space, windows, doors, and the way you move between the house and backyard start to matter too.

We design and install pergolas, covered porches, screen rooms, sunrooms, three-season rooms, four-season enclosures, and Apollo louvered roof systems.

Patios, Pavers & Outdoor Kitchens

When the back door sits close to grade, a patio is usually the better fit. There’s no sense forcing a raised deck into the project when a patio gets you the same space.

Pavers, natural stone, and stamped concrete are all on the table. Fire pits, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, seating walls, and walkways can be part of the same job.

Settle the layout before you pick the surface. The grill shouldn’t sit in the path out the back door. A dining table needs room to pull the chairs out. A fire pit needs clearance on every side. That stuff matters a lot more than the color of the paver.

Deck Remodeling & Resurfacing

Already have a deck? We’ll get under it and look at the framing before we tell you what to do with it.

If the frame is solid, you might only need new composite boards, new railing, new stairs, or lighting. If the framing’s gone bad, that gets fixed first. New decking over a bad frame is money spent in the wrong place.

You’ll get a straight answer on what’s worth saving, what needs repair, and when it’s cheaper to tear it down and start over. We’d rather lose a resurfacing job than screw new boards to a frame that won’t hold them.
